Aim-Scope

According to the relevant ministerial decision, the Master’s Program in Public Administration, offered by the Department of Economics of the School of Economic Sciences, University of Western Macedonia, is designed to equip professionals with specialized knowledge and skills in the field of Public Administration.

Program Objectives

The primary objectives of the Master’s Program are:

  • To produce highly trained professionals who can contribute to enhancing the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of services provided by the public sector.

  • To improve both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise of individuals employed in the broader public sector, generating positive impacts on society as a whole.

  • To develop the administrative skills and competencies necessary for a successful career in the management of public sector organizations.

  • To promote research in scientific areas relevant to public administration.

  • To cultivate critical thinking and research skills required for pursuing doctoral studies.

Legal and Regulatory Framework

The structure, organization, and operation of the Master’s Program in Public Administration are governed by:

  • The relevant provisions of national legislation on higher education and postgraduate studies, specifically Article 88, paragraph 1 of Law 4957/2022,

  • The current Internal Regulation of the Program.

The Program’s Operating Regulations further specify and complement the existing legal framework. These regulations govern operational matters not explicitly addressed by current legislation.

Governance and Decision-Making

Matters concerning the organization, administration, student affairs, educational processes, or academic issues that are not regulated by national legislation, or by decisions of the Graduate Studies Committee of the University of Western Macedonia or the Assembly of the Department of Economics, fall under the jurisdiction of the Departmental Assembly, which is the competent authority for resolving such matters.
